Affiliate Disclosure

Last updated: September 2026

Transparency matters more than anything else on a site like this. Here is exactly how Vehicle History Guide earns money and what that does — and does not — mean for you.

The short version

Vehicle History Guide is an independent affiliate website. When you click a “Check a Vehicle’s History” button and purchase a report on the provider’s website, we may earn a commission. It costs you nothing extra — the price you pay is the same whether you arrive through our link or not.

How the affiliate relationship works

Our green buttons link to a vehicle history report offer through ClickBank, an affiliate network that tracks referrals and pays commissions to sites like ours. The search, the report, and the payment all happen on the provider’s website — never here. We do not see your VIN, your report, or your payment details.

Our relationship with VINCheckUp

We are not VINCheckUp. This is not the official VINCheckUp website, and we are not owned by, operated by, sponsored by, or officially endorsed by VINCheckUp. We do not use the VINCheckUp logo or branding anywhere on this site. VINCheckUp is the vendor that fulfills report orders placed through our affiliate links; all questions about orders, refunds, and report content belong to them and to ClickBank.

What this means for our content

Commissions pay for the site, but they do not buy the advice. Our guides repeatedly state the uncomfortable truths an affiliate could quietly omit: reports may not contain every record about a vehicle, a clean report is not a guarantee, and no history report replaces an independent mechanical inspection. We would rather lose a sale than have a reader buy the wrong car.

What we recommend you do

  • Read what a report includes — and what it can miss — before buying one.
  • Check the current price and terms on the provider’s website before paying.
  • Use the free NHTSA recall lookup at nhtsa.gov/recalls regardless.
  • Always get an independent mechanical inspection before you buy a used car.
