Vehicle History Guide is an independent, informational affiliate website. We publish educational guides about vehicle history reports, VINs, and used-car buying for visitors in the United States. We are not a vehicle history report provider, a dealership, a mechanic, or a government agency, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by VINCheckUp.

Everything on this site is general information, not legal, financial, automotive, or mechanical advice. Buying decisions are yours. Before purchasing any used vehicle you should independently verify its condition and records — including with a qualified mechanic of your choosing.

Vehicle history reports compile events that were reported to the databases they draw from. They may not contain every record about a vehicle: unreported accidents, informal repairs, and events outside the data sources may never appear. A clean report is not a guarantee of a vehicle’s condition, and a history report does not replace a mechanical inspection.
